Choosing a Host
Here’s the deal. If you plan on using WordPress for your content management system, why not choose a hosting service that is recommended by WordPress.org.? They recommend three: BlueHost, DreamHost, and SiteGround. All provide free SSL certificates, easy WP installation and load in less than one second. BlueHost has the added freebies of domain, email and FTP. SiteGround is known for their added security features.
- Worried about the environment?
Choose GreenGeeks. They give 3X the power they consume back towards renewable energy. - Interested only in blogging?
Use wordpress.com. It’s free. Your domain name will include “wordpress.com”. - Hosting a high traffic site?
WP Engine seems to be the preferred host. PBS uses it and it is supported by Amazon.
Warning: Some hosting services will advertise great rates, but their services may be a la carte. GoDaddy is an example.
